Thank you for visiting the website for St. Mary's C.E. Middle School. We are a 9-13 middle school situated on the outskirts of Puddletown, a small village in the beautiful Dorset countryside. We are a church school with an ethos built on the core Christian values of respect, forgiveness, justice, uniqueness, equality and acceptance.
Our aim is to give every pupil the chance to achieve their God given potential in all areas of their life and we are proud to have been assessed as an outstanding church school in our last two Church of England inspections. We expect the highest standards in both academic work and behaviour and we place our children at the centre of everything we do.
The pupils, staff and governors are very proud of our school and we hope that this website will allow you to see why. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet you in person.
Please accept our apologies but due to a technical issue we have been unable to send the emails to each parent regarding their child's tutor group for September as planned. Therefore we have posted all the information along with the welcome pack today and would expect them to arrive with you on Monday of next week. Apologies for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
Welcome to our website area for all things relevant to Year 4 transition into middle school for September 2020. We are very much looking forward to your son or daughter joining the school and we hope that, in the absence of transfer day and a visit to school, the materials here will help them think about what it will be like to a middle school pupil from September. If you have concerns over your child starting, please contact the school office on email@example.com and they will put you in contact with the relevant member of staff.
We have put together a series of short videos that cover the areas we would have talked about with pupils when we had visited them in first school. We normally use these visits to give pupils a chance to ask questions and find out things about St. Mary's they are curious about. We based these videos on the questions we have been asked in previous years and we hope that you will find them useful.
Episode 1 ~ What will my day be like? This video will cover the times of the day, what subjects pupils will study and show them some of the special events they will take part in when they are in Year 5. To watch this video, click here.
Episode 2 ~ Who are some the people I will meet? This video will introduce some of the senior teachers and class teachers for next year. We will also look at the role of a Year 8 buddy and we will explain the system for rewarding good work. To watch this video, click here.
Episode 3 ~ I have a question! This video will cover some other questions we are commonly asked about on our transfer visits to first schools. It will include telling pupils about lockers, diaries and the house system. To watch this video, click here.
Episode 4 ~ Meet the tutors This video will introduce pupils and parents to their child's tutor and will also cover the plan (or at least as we understand it to be) for the first few days back in September. To watch this video, click here.
The documents below will give the information on how you can order school uniform for the coming year. Please note that since this documentation was issued to the school, there has been some price changes online. The online price is the correct price.
Please find below the documents that were sent to all prospective parents at the start of June. These include the important registration form that needs to be returned to the school as soon as possible. It also includes the permission form for the taking and use of photographs and images.
All parents of children starting in September should have received a school welcome pack in the post. We have included a digital version of the information sent out in this pack below.
