Welcome to St. Mary's C.E. Middle School

Welcome to St Mary's C.E. Middle School

Thank you for visiting the website for St. Mary's C.E. Middle School. We are a 9-13 middle school situated on the outskirts of Puddletown, a small village in the beautiful Dorset countryside. We are a church school with an ethos built on the core Christian values of respect, forgiveness, justice, uniqueness, equality, acceptance and kindness.

We look to inspire our school community and give them the tools to thrive in the modern world, summed up by our school aim of 'Inspire today to shape tomorrow'. We are proud to have been assessed as an outstanding church school in our last two Church of England inspections. We expect the highest standards in both academic work and behaviour and we place our children at the centre of everything we do.

The pupils, staff and governors are very proud of our school and we hope that this website will allow you to see why. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet you in person.

At Pencelli

  • Please try to keep to the kit-list provided; the more the students bring, the more they will have to carry and look after (don’t forget 2 labelled bin bags for wet clothes on the last day).
  • Please make sure all items are named – as we cannot be held responsible for any items the children leave behind.
  • Can every child please bring their own packed lunch and a drink as we will not be arriving at the centre until tea time.
  • Keep an eye on weather forecast and send suncream (or woolly hats/gloves!!) accordingly!!
  • Can those children who require medication please bring it in a named bag and contain clear instructions as to dosages to be taken.
  • As mentioned at the meeting, students must not bring mobile phones, iPods or any other electronic games.  Please remember that we are trying to take them out of their comfort zone and get them to interact with each other and the environment.
  • Please don’t let them bring expensive cameras.  The Centre will supply each group with a camera and photographs will be taken every day and loaded onto a disc for us when we leave. These photos will be saved onto the curriculum network if your son/daughter would like copies of them.
  • There is a payphone at the centre and students can use it only in an emergency with permission from a member of staff.  Please don’t phone the centre unless there is a real emergency. I will contact the school if there are any problems and the school will then contact you.
  • Children will need to bring some spending money and I would suggest a maximum of approximately £20-25, please make sure this money is in a sealed envelope with your child’s name written on it.  There is a small tuck shop available at the Centre and we will also be stopping at services en-route.
  • The children will leave Pencelli at 2.30pm on Friday 5th April and should be returning approximately at 6pm.  We will send a text out to parents on the day to give a more accurate time.
  • Keep an eye on the school website for regular updates and when we arrive and depart.
  • All ordered hoodies will be issued in school on Friday 29th March in the afternoon.
  • Finally, please be aware that the school will be shut and therefore we will not be able to use the toilets or collect any medication normally held in school.
