Thank you for visiting the website for St. Mary's C.E. Middle School. We are a 9-13 middle school situated on the outskirts of Puddletown, a small village in the beautiful Dorset countryside. We are a church school with an ethos built on the core Christian values of respect, forgiveness, justice, uniqueness, equality, acceptance and kindness.
We look to inspire our school community and give them the tools to thrive in the modern world, summed up by our school aim of 'Inspire today to shape tomorrow'. We are proud to have been assessed as an outstanding church school in our last two Church of England inspections. We expect the highest standards in both academic work and behaviour and we place our children at the centre of everything we do.
The pupils, staff and governors are very proud of our school and we hope that this website will allow you to see why. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet you in person.
Dear Parents
We are forwarding this information from Dorset Healthcare for your information:
Just to let you know that there is a lot of Scarlet Fever circulating in local schools at the current time. If any school has two or more confirmed cases, this is classed as an outbreak and school should liaise directly with Public Health England (PHE) who will advise in terms of a letter that will need to be sent home to parents. Therefore it is imperative that parents notify the school if their child is given this diagnosis by their GP. The PHE have also advised us that Chicken Pox is also circulating locally.
It is even more important that Public Health England are notified if Chicken Pox is circulating within specific schools at the same time as Scarlet Fever, as some children can become severely unwell if infected with both infections at the same time. If your child is diagnosed with Scarlet Fever, please ask whether Chicken Pox is circulating at the school at the same time.
