Awards at St. Mary's C.E. Middle School

 

At St. Mary's, we want to reward pupils who work hard, put a lot of effort into their work and are making great progress in their learning.  To help motivate our pupils, we award several prizes throughout the year to reward these qualities.  These awards are given out each term at our special celebration assemblies.  Below are details of the different awards that we give out.  You can also find out previous winners of the awards through the links at the base of this page.

This award is given to one pupil from each year group and is to recognise a pupil that has made exceptional progress across all of their subjects.  A pupil may not be the highest attaining pupil in their year but rather one that is putting in a lot of effort.  Winners of this award are chosen by the respective head of year.  Each pupil is awarded a certificate.

This award recognises one pupil from each class that shows a great attitude and demonstrates the school's core values through their conduct and contribution to school life.  Winners are chosen by their tutors and are presented with a certificate.

This award is given to one pupil in each year group who has produced outstanding work in the subjects of English, Maths and Science.  These awards are chosen by the head of subject and pupils are presented with a certificate. 

These awards are only presented to pupils in Year 8.  For each subject, an award is given for progress and another for overall achievement.  Pupils are presented with a certificate.  The winners are chosen by the Head of Key Stage 3 and the subject leaders.

The governor's cup is awarded to one pupil each year who best demonstrates the core values of the school in their conduct, contribution to school life and overall attitude.  The winner will be presented with the governor's cup.  The winner is selected by the Head of School.

This award is given to one pupil in the school at the end of each term.  Pupils are able to nominate any pupil in the school to recieve this award and the selection of the winner will be made by a panel of pupils.  The winner of this award will be presented with a trophy, certificate.
